“Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.”
So what does it mean exactly?
Well It’s only natural in life’s journey to make bad judgements, mistakes or have the odd regret here and there. This saying basically encourages you to learn from your mistakes the first time and not to allow it to happen a second time.
If someone fools, tricks, cheats or does wrong by you the first time it’s their shame (or fault), but by allowing this same person to fool you a second time, then this becomes your shame (or misjudgement) for allowing them to repeat it again…
